Introduction

Candles are one of the most comforting ways to scent your home, the following guidelines will ensure you get maximum enjoyment from them. All our candles are scented using essential oil blends that have been fully safety tested to EU CLP (Clear Labelling and Packaging laws) and English grown, pesticide free Hemp wax – unique to Twoodle Co.

Wax and essential oils are flammable. When lit, the candle will contain hot molten wax and must be used with caution. If not used safely candles can cause a fire, but when used safely, they will enhance your space and your life. We use a unique clasp on the bottom of our wicks that prevents our candles burning to the bottom of the vessel, which is a common cause of candle related house fires. This safety feature is unique to Twoodlco Co.

Candle Use

Place the candle on a level, fire resistant surface. The wick comes pre-trimmed to the correct size (10mm approx.). The first burn of the candle should be for a minimum of 2 hours, or until the candles has a full melt pool, to stop tunnelling and make your candle last longer (tunnelled candles are not covered by the guarantee). All packaging is reusable and recyclable. Avoid putting your candle in direct sunlight as this will damage the scent and the wax. The colour of the candle may change over time, this is due to the natural origin of the product and will not affect the performance of the scent. Once the candle has been extinguished and has cooled, return the lid to keep your candle dust free and stop the oils from evaporating away (if included).

Warning

Never burn a candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Burn candles out of reach of children and pets. Always leave at least 10cm between burning candles. Do not burn candles on or near anything that can catch fire. Never burn candles in a draught. Never touch the glass container once the candle is lit, wait until it has cooled before touching or moving. Do not place on polished or painted surfaces. Never blow out a candle, always snuff out the flame. Never burn a candle right to the bottom. Keep your candle free from foreign materials. Always trim the wick to 5-10mm before relighting. Keep all safety guidelines for future reference.

Caution

Essential oils may cause allergic reaction – check ingredients list and use with caution. Essential oils can cause serious eye irritation. In the event of contact with the eyes, rinse with water for several minutes. Dispose of contents/container in accordance with local regulations. In case of contact with the skin, wash your hands with warm soapy water. Keep all essential oil products out of reach of children and pets. Do not take internally. Candle FAQs

Smoke is coming off my candle/I’m getting soot on the candle jar.

Our candles will smoke slightly and can leave soot on the candle glass. This is because we don’t bleach our wax and it is natural for a bit of smoke when burning essential oil candles. Excessive smoking: This can happen when the candle flame is too hot and it starts burning the wax too quickly, causing the candle to smoke. This  is normally caused by the wick being too long, and will quite often stop after a short time as our wicks are self trimming. If it doesn’t stop, snuff out the candle, allow to cool, trim the wick and re-light.

The wax in my candle has gone dark

This will happen with our candles as we don’t use any synthetic stabilisers. The darker was is caused by natural oils oxidising when the candle heats up. Continue to use the candle as normal.

Why do you use Hemp wax?

Founder Tim spent two years developing wax made from Hemp seed oil because Hemp is one of the most sustainable materials on the planet. The Hemp we use is free from THC and CBD. The beauty of Hemp is that it doesn’t require pesticides, Hemp only needs about 1/3 of the water as other crops and Hemp produces a larger crop for the space compared to other plant materials. Our wax is made using pressure and heating methods, and we don’t bleach it or add any synthetic stabilisers.

Are your candles safe for people with a soy allergy to use?

No. We use soy in other products so traces of soy could be present in our candles.
