Essential Oil Safety Information

Introduction

Essential oils are very concentrated solutions that have been extracted from plants and it’s our priority to give you a safe way of using them. You can rest assure that each of our products have been safety checked by a substances and mixtures specialist. Each product has potential allergens listed, so you can make an informed decision about using individual products and all our blends comply with EU safety regulations. Following the steps outlined below will ensure that you safely enjoy the benefits that essential oils offer.

Classification, labelling and packaging (CLP)

Classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures (CLP) is the European legislation that requires all retailed substances and mixtures (including essential oil blends) to be safety checked and any have any hazards and/or potential allergens clearly listed on each product. Read More.

We only use 100% natural ingredients and have gone to great lengths to give you complete transparency as to the natural chemicals contained within each blend.

The process of CLP is lengthy and costly, but your safety is our number one priority. We display all CLP information on each product under the heading ‘CLP Safety information’, so you can view this information before making a purchase. This information is also attached to every product.

We also hold Safety data sheets (SDS) for each blend and are available should they required. Please contact info@twoodleco.co.uk or call +44 (0)20 7931 9662 or write to Twoodle Co Ltd, 7 Queen Mary’s Buildings, Stillington Street, London, SW1P 1EF, if you have any questions.

Essential Oils – Phototoxicity

As our products are not intended for use on skin, this is for your information only. When skin comes into contact with certain cold pressed citrus essential oils, particularly oils that contain furocoumarins (FCFs), (natural occurring chemicals found in some essential oils), and then exposed to ultraviolet light, phototoxicity (or photosensitisation) can happen. Should any of our products come into contact with your skin, wash the area with warm soapy water immediately. If irritation occurs, seek medical advice. For more information, READ HERE.

The Bergamot essential oil used by us has had the Bergaptene and Furanocoumarins (FCFs) removed and will not cause phototoxicity. Although Grapefruit does also contain FCFs, it contains 24 times less than Lime, Lemon and Bitter Orange.

In the event of a spillage, wipe the affected surface immediately to prevent the essential oil blends from causing damage.
